Will Narendra Modi Regain The Power?

December 8th 2007 10:25
The outcome of the election result of Gujrat is eagerly awaited because there seem to be no clear winner as yet.The BJP government is in power there for more than a decade now so the anti incumbency factors will certainly play its part.Only west Bengal government and to some extent the Rashtriya Janta Dal government, led by Lalu Prashad Yadav were able to to check anti-incumbancy to some extent in the recent past.
BJP is relying heavily upon the charistma of its chief minister, the very controversial Narendra Modi .Opposition too is aware of the clout of Modi and hope to wean away secular voters from the BJP camp this time. The secular minorities are already behind it absolutely and now it has welcomed all those who deserted Modi into its fold. Those who have joined the congress will be now secular.Majorty of the Hindu voters, however, remain fundamentalists as they are likely to vote for BJP-Modi.If some of them break away and bcome secular by voting against Modi then there is a reasonable possibility that congress might regain the power once again.

Modi was boasting his developmental work this time but the ghost of Godhra has not left him so no credit was awarded to him for that.Local Media and Nationa Media is at opposite ends at this issue.Where as national media is stuck at 2002 the local media consider that just a horrible phase that have passed and died down now.The popularity of Modi is amaging among the {fundamentalists}Hidues. This is recognized by the Congress too and they have put their all might to dislodge him this time.Sonia Gandhi,Digvijaya Singh,Mamohan Singh and all the secularists like Teesta Sevtavad,Javed Akhtar and others who have been awarded by this government, are leaving no stone unturned to dislodge Modi this time.
It would have been perfectly understandable if those replacing Modi would have an unblemished past.Congress can’t just wish awaya the hundreds of riots that happened during its governance. The recent acquittal of a leader allegedelly involved in the Sikh carnage ponts out the contrary approach. The people of this country will never know that how a certain Italian businessman was given chit by the CBI,who went to the extent of helping that person in defreezing the bank account containing millions of dollars received as a kik back.
