Why Ahamad Is So Angry....?

October 12th 2008 05:23
Ahmad studied in Koilakh High School,Madhubani,Bihar. He felt bracketed and discriminated because his house was located in the eastern part of the village which had very nasty sporting and academic rivalry with the inhabitants of western part of the village.Once out of school he laughed off of his stupid thoughts whenever he got nostalgic and still speaks with great admiration of those golden school days.
Then he enrolled into a college in Darbhanga and shifted into the college hostel where he felt discriminated because there was intense competition and rivalry between students from "Koshi region of Mithila and the rest. After completing his intermediate studies he came to Patna and enrolled himself in a coaching institute. There too he felt bracketed and was identified with Maithil community which had rivalry with students from Magadh and Bhojpur regions of Bihar.

He got admission in a premier Management Institute outside the state where a "Bihari" tag was awaiting him.Although hurt, he forgave the chauvinistic ignorant .He, like us, became the part of one or other community without ever seeking admission into these groups.
After many years, now in his early forties, he is seen as a "Muslim" by others. He has been a proud muslim always but the connotation attached to it now has made him furious and angry.Very, very angry !
He fails to understand how he is different from anyone belonging to that village with a population of 9000 ifferent from anyone of this country in any way ?He is seeking the answer from everyone .
Ahmad should know that nothing has changed and people of the village are as friendly to him as they have always been. But that claim holds no water elsewhere, where the media has penetrated and vitiated the atmosphere by discussing illogically every trivial issue, mostly at the behest of political parties. Many journalists acting as moderators are so bookish that it seems they have landed here from some other planet. They exclaim in horror when someone points to them that Government officials are corrupt !For them four Metros constitute India and the rest of India is filled with simpletons and idiots. The truth in contrast is that they have studied in public schools where they got their diction right and they can read correctly the prompter and are visually appealing too.........!

Politicians have exploited the prevailing situation to the hilt and as a consequence the Shiv Sena and Bhartiya Janta Party have become a force to reckon with .But how has this happened ?
Many years after Ahmad had left home and settled into his job, his maternal uncle,Jainul, who was into "seed" trade left his business and became a political activist.Within a few years his fortune transformed and he became obscenely rich.He yielded power, influence and tremendous clout, so much so that the police would ask him what to do before acting upon any complaints, most often.
After the Bhagalpur riot which was worse than the Gujrat episode though not adequately investigated,Muslims were aghast with the Congress politics.Lalu Prasad Yadav had just become the Chief Minister of Bihar and he rightly arrested L.k.Advani,which made him dear to the community.Similarly Mulayam Singh Yadav got the trust of this community in Uttar Pradesh.Due to the support of the community these leaders became virtually impregnable and their pathetic policies have resulted in the present mess.
The only developmental work during 16 long years of Lalu regime was to construct brick lane road in the Muslim inhabited areas, nothing beyond that and nothing before that point. The other project was fencing of the burial ground.Even people like Ahmad were embarrassed by this kind of blatant discrimination. But he knew that all the money allocated for these projects was meant to keep leaders like his own "Mamu" Jainul in good humor .Jainul benefitted immensly at the expense of other 8999 villagers.
Jainul too has justification for his act because someone else was enjoying all the benefits all these years so it was god's grace that these opportunities befell on him.The difference, however, was that earlier something actually translated in real works as a result the village had electricity from 1966,a health centre, library,Auditorium, sev en primary schools,a middle school and a high school.
The village was well connected with roads and a college was in the pipeline too. But roads evaporated, school building collapsed,Upper caste people were falsely implicated and the situation became so hostile that those who could afford to shift base elsewhere did so.As there were no developmental activities, even the poorest sections of the society were forced to migrate to other states. There came a time when there were less than 1000 people staying put in their ancestral homes-mostly old and locally employed people.
After the change of regime in Bihar,Jainul lost his clout but he is more sane now.He has regained his balance and regrets his activities. He is very much a part of the village mainstream now.According to Jainul barely 25 percent of mony reached him so he had no option but to pocket it himself.75 per cent was deducted at source by those who were above him in political hierarchy.
According to Ahmad there are many unemployed people whom he helped secure employment were so vulnerable that they would have easily fallen into Criminal's trap. Many of these youth were working with his "Mamu"as his bully and never cared for the law and order. But each one of this kind of "Muslim" youth bully, there were and are 10 such "Hindu" bully.
The same situuation prevails more or less everywhere in this country.Unfortunately some youths might have got lured by luster and would have committed a crime which is described as anti-national activity. Many of these youth would never do anything if they know the severity and consequent repercussion of their act.So they must be treated with compassion and sympathy but their handlers, who knowingly indoctrinate these innocent youth must be sternly dealt.
Shift the base from Koilakh to Delhi and Mumbai. Here, there are thousands of Jainuls, only more shrewd and very dangerous. They pounce upon every opportunity to target BJP and RSS obliquely which has made these outfits a formidable force. The venomous writings of some activists are vitiating the atmosphere. They have made their name, established themselves as intellectuals but catapulted the divide between two communities which is extremely unfortunate.
Congress,it seems has lost the art of Politics.First it gave Bihar to Lalu. Now it is prepared to handover Uttar Pradesh to Mulayam Singh Yadav. If Rahul Gandhi nurtures any thought of becoming the prime minister of India ,then he should act now firmly.Deal firmly with anybody caught or suspected in criminal or anti national activities with firm hand without any prejudice.
Media should also not allow to air the "known" views of leaders known for their partisan politics. For instance a member of parliament was scoffing off the police claims about foiling the Surat Bombing conspiracy. He wondered why terrosrist would keep bombs on trees. He played his politics but he also angered millions of viewers for his atrocious remarks. These kind of leaders have virtually pushed BJP near the seat of power which had deserted it in the last election. The process of polarisation has gained momentum and it is any-body's guess that who will benefit if that happens absolutely. If they are not sanguine then they too would regret like Jainul. But unlike Jainul they are not dealing with petty issues so once on national television or on any public forum they should maintain restraint.Care for others and they will reciprocate in equal measure.
I am a friend of Ahamad, will remain his friend forever no matter how much elements like Pravin Togadia,Tarun Tejpal or Teesta Setalvad try to vitiate the atmosphere through their intellectual discourses. And I am not alone. There would be millions who would agree with me.
