Lalu P.Yadav:One step forward;two backward !

August 9th 2008 02:58
Lalu Prashad Yadav never misses an opportunity of boasting his achievements as the Minister of Railways. It is nice to hear the term Infrastructure and development from his mouth. At least this assures us that the Infrastructure being built painstakingly by the presen tNitish kumar led government would not be destroyed if he comes to power in future.
But the perception of a changed Lalu is a myth. His recent utterances in favour of SIMI,is testimony to the fact that he can stoop to any level to regain the power.National interest and development of the state is secondary to his selfish political interest.

After many years, Bihar is not a regular news item.Obviously there are less terrible things happening there.Occasionally some minor incidents do happen which get disproportionate National Television coverage but that is not convincing, sting less and exposes the bias towardsBihar than the newsworthiness of the event itself. These Channels are reluctant to broadcast any positive story about Bihar so these days Bihar is out of news mostly.
Lalu Prashad Yadav has gained national stature and he is undoubtedly the most popular politicial figure outside his hom state, Bihar. This is a great opportunity for him to raise his level and behave like an statesman which will change his image a bit in Bihar too.He should also put his weight behind the development of the state. The first gesture in that direction would be to pressurise the ministry of surface transport and remind them that the National Highways passing through Bihar needs to be rebuilt also. Why only Bihar was discriminated as far as National Highways repairing is concerned should be asked. It is speculated that Lalu forced the NHAI to stawy away from Bihar fearing that these developmental credit could go towards Nitish Kumar. If Lalu can not be the solution then he should not be part of any problem.Hopefully he is listening.
