Decoding Hugo Chavez

The President of Venezuela created quite a stir with his antics and fiery speech at the UN General Assembly meet yesterday. Comparing President Bush to a "devil" is something, considering the fact that he was standing in American soil when he made that announcement. No official comment from White House yet but the Democrats are apparently not too happy about this.
According to news report in CNN, some democrats are not happy that Mr. Chavez called Bush a "devil". Why? Is it because he said that before they did or is it because he is trying to get ahead of them in "Bush bashing". Anyway, let’s get back to Mr. Chavez. He is vocal opponent of US and the allies and has no apology for being so. Iran and Cuba are his best friends and he believes that with their help (and with the oil money) he can topple US from its position as the world’s leader. Hmm, lets see if that can really happen.
Venezuela’s economy is not strong enough to stand a long term stand-off with US. Although Chavez has majority of population behind him, the minority which is largely white and own majority of large businesses don't like him much. So, he is not in position to take risks. His antics and name calling, in my opinion, are just to get some attention. To show his people that he can stand-up against US.
Should US worry about Chavez..? No. But yes look out for Iran.

There's so many wars on so many fronts to fight - though not necessarily physical types - it would be as difficult starting one with a long term plan in mind as it would finishing one with an exit strategy to the benefits of all. Got to be one of the worst jobs in the world, along with the residential sanitation cleaners in New York, in the tv show New York - Life of Grime.
