ok getting down to business, Gerald Ford, former US President, died today in California at the age of 93. he is the President who pardon infamous Mr. Nixon, finished up the Vietnam war and also refused to bail out New York city. quite a chequered history there.
i wish he had not pardoned Nixon. that man made a serious mistake and should have been punished.
on his refusal to bail out New York city during the fiscal crises of the 70s, i think he could have been right, althoug it didn't seem so at that time. bailing out is not a solution, a city has to strengthen itself through its own resources.
then there is that famous slip up when he said the then Eastern Europe was not dominated by then Soviet Russia. hmm not too bad considering the fact that President Bush was equally ignorant about Pakistan when he was first elected (anyone remember the interview where he couldn't the name Pakistan's President? it was interesting..)
anyway, he was a far better President than the present one, and for that I salute him. may his soul rest in peace.
