anti war rally: will freeze for peace

January 29th 2007 19:18
so friends the anti-war rally on thursday was great success..i mean getting around 50 people to protest war in very conservative west lafayette, indiana is HUGE!! so i congratulate myself and the others

from the water fountain at west lafayette we marched towards the courthouse. wind was chilling..the banner i was carrying was just blowing away. temperature was around 25 F so..it was really really cold..strong wind didn't help.

at the courthouse around 5 people were waiting for us. waiving pro war banners and the american flag. but this time..we were stronger than them. all they could do was take our pictures. they were the College Republicans..that is what i was told.

speakers from lafayatte area peace coalition and local students groups made speech about the war. we all clapped, it was great when the passing motorists honked or waved to us.

well i guess if the entire country would respond to anti-war message this way American troops will be out of Iraq very soon....

Good show
I think the concept of a winnable war is being defeated in the public eye.

Some call this Karma.

Pick a war = Bad Karma
Stick with your mistakes = Very bad Karma
Try to fix it = Good Karma

Good Luck

good stuff.

It's funny that you called the others Pro-War. Do they call themselves pro-war?

That's a pretty ridiculous name for a group, no? They WANT war?

20/20..it sounds hard to believe but actually there are people who WANT the war..they take it as a mission to prove it to the world who is in charge..

I don't support the war and I've never been to a protest. I guess it comes from thinking it won't do anything. Especially with the current administration. This is a president who pisses on popular opinion.

My turn to visit you, Bum. So you went to a peace march... and apparently you think we should pull the troops out right now, huh? So what do you expect to happen to all the Iraqis that are trying to get their country back on its feet? Does your wish to see the war end outweigh the millions who would be killed by the new terrorist regime? Is getting out of Iraq more important to you than having another free and democratic governemnt to stabilize the Middle East? Is protesting more fun than thinking (like it is for Jane Fonda)?

Exactly S.L.
While we in the west can happily wash our hands of the middle east and tell each other "I told you so". We'r only creating a bigger problem not only for ourselves but for those left over there. Those who support the Iraqi government and believe in their country. The majority are being murdered by a vicious fundamental minority and all you can do is roll out cliches about peace and happiness. The Iraqi's need us there, and for the most part they want us there. You've never been there. You dont understand and yet you think you do.
Alaikum Wassalam, sleep happily and think of the children being murdered tonight because of their religion.

Hello Haletime. Let me get this straight, the Iraqis need us there and want us there and you know millions of them are being killed because of their religion, and you think we should pull out right away? Is that what you said? You really need therapy. Soon. (And you think I don't understand, right?) Very soon.

I'll pass on the therapy. Perhaps i didnt write it well enough. I was pretty tired. I'm agreeing with you and having a go against the people who oppose the war over there. I wasnt having a go at you and i dont know how you think i am. When i say "you" i mean the person who wrote this blog.
I was saying that i've been there and that we should stay there. Pretty simple i reckon.
Thanks for the smartarse finish tho.
