Al Sharpton: Bigot or hypocrite
April 19th 2007 16:28
Al Sharpton, who descends to every town in America if you dare say anything against the African American community, is in my opinion a hypocrite.
Sharpton who was once a civil rights leader has now transformed himself into an one man army. He will hunt you down if you cross the line against African American people. On the onset, this looks like a man who is dedicated and someone who is willing to work for his community. You are mistaken my friend if you have these ideas about Mr. Sharpton.
True. Sharpton has contributed to the civil rights movement. But what about the vast gap between the African American community and the rest of America in terms of education, jobs and economic strength? What has he done about it. Nothing. What about African American women who are constantly denigrated in rap and hip-hop music and by rappers? Nothing. And yes what about the large number of African American men in prisons in America, what had he done for them? Nothing.
You see, Sharpton goes about look of issues that are "hot" and those that will get him media attention. That is why he was so active on the Duke case and now the Imus case. Ask him about economic empowerment of African Americans, he will run away in opposite direction. Why? because that issue will get him the media time.
Ask him to take up the issue of education in his community, he will not help out.Because that is not a "hot"issue. MORE

Small Thoughts on Big Questions
These two scam artists abandoned any real pretext of working to improve the rights of minorities long ago. That noble ambition has been replaced by greed, corruption, the desire for fame, and a staggering sense of entitlement. If black Americans want to embrace true equality, the first step is to tell this blowhard that he does not speak for their community. His antics only serve to further wedge the races apart, rather than bring them together.

being an American and having to live with my country's bizarre way of doing things, it's no wonder the other nations of the world regard us as freaks and clowns..
American IS one big circus act, and Sharpton and Jackson head the list! I am in total agreement with that...
Of course Bush isn't even a human being, at least I don't think so..and don't get me wrong, I love my country and would stand up and defend her at a moment's notice...
But I refuse to whitewash the stupidity and rancor that comes out of it!! Including the current Administration!! It IS a freakin JOKE, and the rest of the world certainly knows it...
And as for your comment about "Black Americans", as far as I'm concerned when you live within the United States, pay taxes and learn the language then you should be considered an "American", period...NOT a black, white, red, yellow, beige, blue, tan, ornage, pink, WHATEVER...just a plain old AMERICAN...
The only true Americans are the NATIVE Americans... !!
Anything else is a very very poor imitation...
Take care,
Nick

Racial sensitivity as a whole is an issue that needs to be shelved. America is positively schizophrenic when it comes to dealing with race. You seem to take exception to the phrase "black America." Why? There is a clear sub-culture that revolves around a unique blend of trends set by American citizens of African descent. It is not a falsehood nor an insult to acknowledge their heritage. It is unfortunate that our country has become entrapped by this paradox which states that we must embrace diversity and celebrate all cultures, while striving all the while to pretend that we're all exactly the same. The bottom line is: we're different. We're different cultures, different ethnicities, different outlooks....different all the way around. Yes, we form one nation. Yes, being an American supersedes everything else. But let's not pretend that their are no cultural or social differences. Our diversity is part of our strength, as long as we don't let scam artists like Sharpton wield it like a club. His thrashings over purported racial injustices only serve to cause more damage.
