Ashok K.JhaAfghan Women still living in fear and repression

I am in middle or a research on Afghan women and not surprised to fin out that they are still living in fear and repression.
The Afghan journalist I interviewed said to me that, "Girls schools are being burnt in the night in provinces and teachers are warned through night letter, not to attend schools. Only four days back, letters were distributed in Kapisa province, situated some 40 kilometers north of the central capital Kabul, warning women to stay at homes instead of attending offices. They were issued death threats. Provincial officials told this scribe, majority of women employees of NGOs and government did not attend their offices after the threats." This is five years after the US invaded the country promising a rosy future for every one. I guess they forgot all about Afghan women. What else explains the lack of effort in insuring women's rights??
I have been writing on Afghan women for a while and every time I hear about child brides or honor killings or women being forced to live behind the veil I feel like punching everyone who supports this war. Like the conservatives, boy!! We have lot of them here in US. They are happy to label all those who do not support this war are "terrorist sympathizers” but fail to see that the war is not giving us any results.
