A Political Mind - December 2006

May the year 2007 bring results

December 31st 2006 20:14
before i get going on the serious stuff, let me wish u all a very happy and prosperous new year.

year 2006 was frustrating and really didn't contribute anything, in my view. look at the tragedy in Iraq, if u do the math then an average of 70 Iraqis are killed everyday. thats is huge count and a shameful statastics for the US. then there is the Middle East conflict. Lebanon is still rebuilding and is facing lot of problems concerning funding and also political stability. all the while Israel is enjoying on US given aid and walking along the path of prosperity and military might. i cannot forget North Korea and Darfur. innocent people are starving to death and all we do is debate about fricking Weapons of Mass Destruction or Nuclear Weapons. isn't hunger a weapon of mass destruction? it is there in abundance in North Korea and Darfur. so why nothing is being done to destroy hunger?

i really hope and pray that in 2007 world will be little better than this year gone by.

no doubt Saddam doesn't deserve mercy for this murderous regime but his death could mean serious trouble for US, Iraq and its people and the neighbours.

It is very much possible that after his death his announced, the Sunnis will launch voilent attacks against the Shias. Iraq is already under grip of voilence, instability, this rise in Sunni voilence will only make matters worse.

Also, Saddam's death will further fuel Sunni anger against the US and Western Allies. As a result we could see more attacks against the US troops. Attcks against US interests in the Arab countries could also happen.

Iraq's neighbours Jordan and Syria which have large Sunni population could see increased anit-US and anit-Western world sentiments, possibly attacks against western interests in the country.

I am for death penalty for voilent criminals, but in case of Saddam, his death could mean more civilian casulties and destruction of Iraq. This is one criminal who should be kept behind bars for life, not killed.

John Edwards: Not quitting on his dreams

December 28th 2006 19:31
seriously, i thought that after this defeat in 2004, john edwards would go back to being a lawyer, take care of his family and be away from public life. but then yesterday his website delivered news that he going to run again, this time for president.

i was suprised. i mean he has served just one term on the senate, doens't have a long political hsitory to back his bid. but then with the rise of other novice like Barack Obama, it seems like the public is more accepting of less experienced candidates.

one, they come with less baggage and short list of people seeking "favours", also they are in position to take risks and make dramatic changes. the other working for these "newbies" is that their public image is still pretty much "clean", i mean not tainted with stories of misdees during long years in office etc.

from what i see, edward's bid is not as strong as Obama, he lacks the star power and appeal. comparing him with Clinton, i see why some people will choose him oer her. he is a clean slate, Clinton has too much baggage.

public mood seems to be looking for a drasatic change, something fresh and new. i won't be surpised to see "Obama Edwards 2008"

what do u think?

Newt Gingrich needs to shut up!!

December 18th 2006 01:14
yes Mr. Gingrich needs to shut up. he is been going around defending his call to curb freedom of speech to fight terrorism.

well, i don't know how u can defend such a rant which is contrary to the notion of freedom and democracy, the very foundation this nation stands on. but u know gingrich..he is knows how to put a foot in his mouth..hopefully he will understand that curbing freedom is no way to deal with terrorism

it seems like all those detractors of beauty pagents were wrong, Miss America is really an intelligent woman after all or is it? Kansas Senator Brownback has asked a former Miss America from Hawaii to serve in his Presendential exploratory committee..

at first i was happy to know that i was wrong about these ladies..i mean it is good to know that the number of intelligent women is rising in this country. but closer look and there were some gaps

how many times have you heard that Dick Cheney is a hypocrite? millions? i have and yet i sit down to write this blog about that hypocrite

the republicans have long standing anti-gay, anti-lesbain agenda. for them the gays are not worthy of simple social rights like getting married or having a child. among those "holier than thou" republicans there is dick cheney

glenn beck and me

December 4th 2006 18:17
yes i have pretty bad relationship with anchor glenn beck..it got worse after his program on terrorism in the middle east( he talks about how people are being brain washed to hate america) i know people are being taught to hate america in the regio nbut nor everyone does that..the way he presented the show..it seemed that every one in the muslim world and middle east is a blood thirsty maniac..

so what did i do to stop this crazy anchor who sound more like a propoganda machine for the anti-muslim lobby than a balanced media person..well i sent a complaint to the FCC..yes i did it
